Vanessa Fleet is a queer and disability-identified researcher, writer, and educator. Specializing in photographic collections and archives, she has completed research and exhibition projects at the Art Gallery of Ontario, the Art Museum at the University of Toronto, The Image Centre, the J. Paul Getty Museum, and the Vsual AIDS Archive Project. Her writing on contemporary art, photography, and performance appears in C Magazine, Prefix Photo,The Oxford Handbook of Hip Hop Dance Studies (Oxford UP, 2023), and Facing Black Star (MIT Press, 2023). Her doctoral project on the documentary photographer Martha Cooper was awarded a Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarship and a doctoral research fellowship from the Image Centre. She lectures at Toronto Metropolitan University.
